Confession Friday: I Was Adopted Out of Wedlock

It’s true. I realized it yesterday. On Wednesday, I posted about the project I’m doing for Halo’s Adoption Champion project. By the way, thank you to all who said they would help spread the photos!

In any case, I posted photos of my FODs’ wedding, and then I realized that their wedding date is 11 months after my gotcha date. I, dear friends, was adopted out of wedlock. Here’s a timeline I drew while pondering the topic:

My detailed timeline of the events.

Excuse my To Do list. I had to organize for the day, as well. I also like to doodle.  As you can see from the timeline, the wedding happened AFTER the adoption.

What do you think? Does this make me illegitimate? I – I just don’ t know what to think. I feel like I don’t know who I am. Where did I come from? What is my last name?

I must go think some more.

Love,

Crepes.

PS. For the GUESS THE HAIKU topic for Tuesday, the answer I was looking for was “Couch.” I was also accepting “Mattress” since it was hard to tell the difference between the two. That means the Tabbies O’Trout Towne have won a Crepes Trading Card!

Tabbies, email me and let me know where you’d like me to ship your prize.

  1. Crepes – maybe it was their love for you that made them realize you need a FOD mom and dad? Maybe you were their inspiration? You are who you always were, dates on a piece of paper have nothing to do with them loving you. Keep you tail up.

  2. Those are stunning photos! Crepes, just be happy you have pawrents who love you. As far as the last name, you can do a hyphenated name but my cats have my last name and not my husband’s because it sounds better.

    • Thank you so much! Though the photos are a constant reminder of my adoption out of wedlock, they are still, indeed, very pretty. Glad to have you as a reader! :) And nice to meet you! -Crepes.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever told you how much I enjoy your dynamic background it always makes me smile.

Since kitties don’t get married, and you are legally owned, I don’t think it rightly matters if they were married or not when they got you, only that you are loved and well fed and have a nice soft place to sleep and are well fed. So think nothing more of it and get on that todo list :)

  5. Don’t worry about it Crepes sweetie, mew see the term ‘adopted out of wedlock’ doesn’t nor needn’t apply to mew as MEW were NOT adopted! I know this sounds crazy, but let me explain how I have always seen my own situation: I have never considered myself adopted, for I see we cats as the ones who have adopted our humans. Being we are the adopters, we are in charge and therefore mew don’t need to worry about whether mew are ‘illegitimate’ or anything! Mew adopted mewz MomFOD and DadFod, and are in charge of mewz home and humans. I hope this helps mew feel better about things, I know it does me as I will never accept any other situation that does not have me in charge of my Queendom and human subjects– it goes against our cat nature and furthermore is such a thought is downright frightening! *shudders at thought of Mom/human in charge*

Stumps up? Stumps down? What are your thoughts?
