Dear World,
.
Meet Abbott.
He is very particular about certain things. For instance, he prefers his petting sessions to be upwards of five minutes. Anything under and you will get the side eye. Also, he loves to talk, as opposed to, you know, not talking. Also, he is particular about who he lives with. Any feline housemates must be willing to use the litter box and also have FeLV. What’s that last part, you wonder? Well, Abbott has feline leukemia. Unfortunately, it is known to shorten kitties lives but it can be managed with proper care. It also means that Abbott is unable to live with other FeLV negative cats.
.
Unlike FIV, FeLV can be spread through grooming and sharing of food and water bowls. While it is possible for some infected kitties to overcome the virus, many who contract it have it for life. It is non-contagious to other animals, though, so Abbott could live with dogs and people just fine. In fact, he would even do well with gentle children because his attitude is just that great. He’s only two himself, is negative for FIV, and is microchipped. And even though he’s filled with FeLV, he’s also filled with LoVE. Keep that in mind.
..
So, let’s run the checklist:
Do you have any other cats?
If Yes, are they FeLV Positive?
If yes, ADOPT!
If no, Share Abbott’s story!
Do you have a dog?
If yes, Abbott is ok for your house! ADOPT!
Do you have kids?
If yes, Abbott is also a good fit! ADOPT!
I hope that helps you make your decision.

I hope someone adopts Abbott. Unfortunately, I have a kitty who is FeLV Negative so I can’t adopt him. But I’ll spread the word about him. He deserves a great home like all kitties.
Good looking guy.
