Today, I have with me Marmalade, the orange cat from the Cole and Marmalade duo. (See their YouTube Channel here). A young fellow, barely over one year old, Marmalade has had some struggles, trials, tribulations, health scares, and once he even got spread on toast. True story.
Presently, Marmalade is running for the title of Modern Cat’s “Star Cat” and is seeking your vote! Let’s see what Marm has to say to my pointed questions:
Crepes: Marmalade, if elected Modern Cat “Star Cat,” what will you do with your fame?

Marm: I would use my “Star Cat” status to continue to promote topics close to my heart, such as pet adoption, spay/neuter, kitty cancer awareness after my battle with lymphoma last year and I would definitely like to try and break down the myths surrounding FIV+ cats….. Since I tested FIV positive last year, we discovered that FIV cats also have a really tough time getting adopted from shelters and we’re going to use my new found fame to help “less adoptable pets” get ADOPTED! … Since all cats deserve a furever home and a happy life 🙂

Crepes: Yes, I can poke no holes in that platform. FIV awareness is important to me, as well. Moving on, what is one thing you want everyone to know about you?

Marm:I’m a BOY! 🙂 … Many Cole & Marmalade followers still think I’m a girl! … I guess Chris (my human) should have named me something more masculine, but I like Marmalade.

Crepes: I understand your frustration. Many people think I’m a boy because I wear ties like Annie Lennox. You know, we have a lot in common and Crepes and Marmalade sound pretty good together. Actually, they sound delicious. And now I’m hungry. One more question. What is your secret obsession?

Marm: Coconut oil, as soon as I hear the lid come off the jar I run as fast as I can to the kitchen!!

Crepes: Yeah, that stuff’s delicious. Crepes, Marmalade, a bit of coconut oil… eh hem. Oh my. Anyway…

It is funny how many people I run into that don’t know that 90% of orange cats are male. I just assume an orange cat is male unless I’m told otherwise, LOL.
Marmalade is very cute! We think it is great that he wants to help less adoptable cats find homes. They all deserve the best!
I have to admit, I’ve owned cats my whole life and I didn’t know it until we got a female orange kitty a couple years ago and the vet gave us that stat. But Molly has the same sweet, orang tabby disposition!
