Bachelorette of the Week: Henrietta!

Dear Readers,
.
You know how as a kid, you might have had a scruffy little teddy bear? One whose fur was worn from all the hugs and kisses you bestowed upon him, and the jelly you spilled on him and left to dry, but then licked off later when you remembered it was there?
.
If you’ve ever wanted to relive that comfort but in the form of a cat, I have for you, the one, the only: Henrietta.
Henrietta: the coolest 12 year old around.

Henrietta: the coolest 12 year old around.

::applause::
.
Now, Henrietta isn’t particularly set on going home with one person. You see, she has needs. Special needs. She has liver disease and is working hard to keep the ring worm at bay. There may even be a touch of lymphoma, but she hasn’t fully fessed up to it yet. She’s got a great attitude, though, despite her sad origins in a tightly-packed hoarder house. She loves people and other cats, and really, she’s quite happy where she is at Tabby’s Place.
.
My point here is this: Henrietta is looking for someone to help pay her Tabby’s Place rent. Well, she’s looking for sponsors. See her as the Artur Rubenstein of cats, seeking a patron to help her keep up her lifestyle while she tickles the ivories of all who come to pet her. Her medications are expensive, and so is her hairdresser. Do you have any idea what it costs these days to get that punk ombre done just right? Do you? Henrietta is particular about her hair and you’ll notice that some days it’s black, other’s it’s silver, and now it’s kind of white in places. Tabby’s Place even described her as a little “fiber optic Christmas Tree.” It’s all part of her lifestyle, and possibly her liver disease, and she needs someone to help her keep that going.
.
Henrietta has a lot of friends in her flat, and they all have numerous sponsors. But not Henrietta. For some reason, she has been overlooked by the sponsorship world. She needs to close this gap and I’m hoping that today, with the help of you, my dear readers, we can change that. Share her little teddy bear face far and wide and ask if anyone has a spare $14 a month to donate to help this lovely lady live the lifestyle she deserves.
.
For more information about sponsoring Henrietta and some fabulous writing by the ever-wonderful Angela Townsend of Tabby’s Place, click here!  You won’t be sorry. Neither will Henrietta. Or her hair.

Goodbye Truffles, Hello Buddy

Friends,

A few days ago we learned of the loss of one of our personal friends, Ms. Truffles the Tortie from Mochas, Mysteries and Meows. She was only a few years old and had just found her forever home two years ago with her dear MomFOD Melissa. And then, suddenly, she was gone. There was no warning and nothing to be done.

Truffles, Forever (Large)

When Rocky passed on not quite a year ago, Truffles and Melissa were beyond kind in making a donation in his memory to Tabby’s Place, one of our favorite rescues. It brought great comfort to our family that they would do such a thing and, at the time, we hoped we’d have no reason to return the kindness. Alas, it happens that the time has come much too soon.

Truffles and Melissa are the sponsors for two kitties names Truffle and Cinnamon from PAWS in Connecticut, and so we decided to do the same. This month, we are the sponsors for dear little Buddy, and we hope that we can perhaps help him find a home. We know that it won’t erase the hurt from Melissa’s kind heart, but perhaps it will bring some comfort knowing that one kitty has a little extra help this month in memory of her tortie girl.

Please meet Buddy. If you or someone you know live within driving distance of PAWS, you may be eligible to give this little snuggler a brand new forever home. Please join me in helping him make his dream a reality by sharing his story.

Buddy from PAWSAnd make sure that you take a moment to hug your pets and your loved ones. It’s impossible to know when your last moment together will be, so make each one a good one.

Love,

Crepes.

Bachelorette of the Week: Tanzy!

You guys!

Oh, hey guys. Thanks for, you know, saving me. - Tanzy.

Oh, hey guys. Thanks for, you know, saving me. – Tanzy.

I have a very touching story to tell you today!

World, meet Tanzy (Tanzanite for long), a tiny kitten who was found barely alive only hours after her birth, drowning in parasites, with puncture wounds near her little back. (You can read her complete story here.) With lots of love, patience, and a small tube, Tabby’s Place was able to keep her alive. In fact, she is now more than alive. She is thriving in their care!

Unfortunately, now that she’s up and about, it has become obvious that the puncture wounds have caused damage to her spine, making her a lifelong paraplegic. Tabby’s Place has hope, however! They will begin physical therapy and hopefully, one day, she’ll be fitted with her own pair of wheels. She has to get her driver’s license first, though, so she has a few weeks to go.

In any case, Tanzy is making her way towards the adoption floor slowly but surely. If Tanzy is someone you’d like to have join your home, you’d best keep an eye on her! In the meantime, if you’d like to sponsor this tiny survivor, you can do so here. You also have my permission to print out her photo and wear it around your neck like the precious gem that she is.

Go, Tanzy, go!

Love,

Crepes.

Tanzy most recently. Either she's looking like a Siamese, or she's dipped her nose in something. Either way, she's still great.

Tanzy most recently. She’s turning Siamese, I think she’s turning Siamese, I really think so. (Do do do do do do- do do)

Hurray for Tabby's Place!!!! - Tanzy.

Bachelor of the Week:Casper!

You guys!

Today’s bachelor is spooky and scary! He’s – hold on, I’ve just received word from MomFOD that that’s not the case. MomFOD, why do you always wait until I’ve started crafting my prose to give me the details?!

Today’s Bachelor’s name is Casper (you can see where I thought he was ghostly), and he’s very friendly. He’s also white. Also, he doesn’t walk so well, and neither did Casper the Friendly Ghost. He mostly floated. Ah, now I’m seeing the connection.

Casper, the friendly cat

Casper, the friendly cat

Casper’s life has been a bit dramatic, to say the least. Once part of an outdoor colony, Casper’s caretaker found him one morning completely paralyzed in all four legs, unable to lift his head. It’s no surprise that Tabby’s Place, savior of fallen kitties, has stepped in to help. And help they did!

Casper went from being a complete quadriplegic to being able to walk again. The doctors surmise that he may have spinal cancer, but are unable to biopsy to identify the cause for certain. After treatment with steroids, physical therapy, and antibiotics, Casper has regained some of the use of his limbs. He is now living at Tabby’s Place, and is looking for someone to step in and offer him sponsorship so that he may continue to receive treatment and care until his last day, and when that will be, only heaven knows. For now, Casper is spending his days snuggling, smiling, and being an inspiration to all who meet him. Click here to read a beautiful tribute to Casper written by Angela from Tabby’s Place.

If you would like to help care for Casper, please contact Tabby’s Place. They appreciate any help that you are willing to offer. As does Casper, the friendly cat.

"Is that a ghost? Or no, it's just a mirror." - Casper.
