The Honest Kitchen sent me a free box of Ice Pups to review. Yes, I know I’m not a pup, but we have one in the house, so the demographic isn’t entirely biased towards cat. We cats here also figured we’d give it a whirl to see what it was all about. So, without further ado, let’s get on with our taste test!
Ice Pups is a powdered product that comes in 16 individual packets. The ingredients list is: Dehydrated chicken, turkey, whey, dandelion, asparagus, watercress, honey, and parsley. I looked it up and, according to petmd.com, dandelion is on the list of ten herbs to improve cat health, having anti-inflammatory properties. Excellent.
Inside the box
The directions say you can make this cold, which requires you to whisk it with warm water and then chill it, or you can freeze it into actual pupsicles, OR, you can serve it as a Steamy Pups when it’s a little chilly outside.
We tasted it warm. MomFOD whisked it with a fork, and she had to whisk hard because it stays a little clumpy. The whisking action brought forth the taste testers, who were eager to get started.
Rocky was the first tester to arrive on scene.
One packet made 8 ounces of liquid, which was promptly consumed by the five of us. We repeatedly switched bowls to make sure no one else got a better tasting one. Turns out, they all tasted the same.
Five bowls for five tasters.
In the end, it was all consumed within minutes, though the package says we have two days to drink it after mixing. I think it’s an excellent product to help get extra fluids into your dog or cat, particularly if they’re dehydrated, ill, or have constipation like my brother Rocky. Maybe that’s why he was so eager to try it out.
Let me taste or I’ll perish!
So, we give Ice Pups TWO STUMPS UP!
The singular dog taster hoping to get in on the tasting action.
All the tasters hard at work.
And now for the exciting part! We’re giving away a box of Ice Pups to one lucky reader.
