You Guys!
So, you know how I like to garden. Well, MomFOD thought it would be nice for Mrs. Peabody to be able to enjoy the spoils of my labor by camping out in my kingdom. I thought she should take a hike, instead.
So, MomFOD contacted ABO Gear, a place that does camping equipment and other goodies for people and pets, and asked if she could have a Happy Habitat tent for us to review. They were thrilled to oblige and have since sent us this little piece of camping equipment for our safe viewing of the balcony. Have a look:
There you’ll see Doodle on the left, wondering why she’s in the tent. There you see me in the center, perfectly framed by the sliding zip door. To the right, Peabody. We also have two other testers who were napping during this photo session, but who will likely try out the tent soon.
Ease of Use: It’s SUPER easy to set up. Easier even than people tents MomFOD has used. You pull it out of the bag, pull the strings, and POP! Set up. Voila. You want to take it down? Pull the tabs and POP! It’s down. It folds into a bag and takes up about as much space as two umbrellas.
Why: An outdoor tent provides indoor kitties with a safe place to lounge and enjoy the smells and fresh air without fear of being lost. It’s also a great idea for special needs cats and pups who like to be outside but need a little extra protection.
Safety: The mesh netting seems quite strong. I personally tested it with my claws and did not leave a mark. MomFOD also tried purposely to rip it with her hands and could not. The netting goes all the way around, including on the floor, so there’s no way out. Do you hear me, cats? NO WAY OUT.
Other thoughts: It does not have much shade, so if you’re going to let someone lounge in it, put it in a shady place for comfort. If the thirty square feet of space isn’t enough, you can purchase an optional Fun Tunnel or Crazy Maze that attaches to the door. The door is a little small for people, but MomFOD managed to make it inside, save for a small snag on her hips (if she’d share her food with me, maybe she’d fit through the door better), and had a little nap with us outside. It also comes with tent pegs, in case you want to stake it down in the dirt. Or for vampires.
Verdict: MomFOD loves this tent. I feel that it’s a violation of my freedoms, personally, but Peabody needs it and seems to like it. I like how the perfect circle of the door frames my face. Look:
We looked high and low for a tent that would suit our needs and thought this one was totally the way to go!
The Offer: We know some of you are looking for little tents to let your kitties play outside! We’ve been given the clearance for a 15% off coupon plus free shipping if you order a Happy Habitat directly from ABO Gear! Email tammy@abogear.com and mention the secret word “TENT.” So covert, right? (You could shop around and look for sales, but then you wouldn’t be all spy tent.)
Love,
Crepes.
PS. Don’t leave your kitties or pups unattended in the tent. Nails can get snagged and sunshine and heat can be dangerous.

I just bought one yesterday, but haven’t used it outdoors yet…I only set it up for about 15 minutes inside to let my kitties explore. They seem to love it! I’m worried about possible tears to the fabric though…they seem to like to scratch and play with the netting material that the tent is made of and boy do their little claws stick right into it. How has yours held up??? I’d love to get an update on your review in the year since you’ve had it!!!
So far, it’s a stumps up! We had no tears in the fabric and no one got out. They all loved it and loved lounging in it and I even got in and hung out with them. Thus far, in our experience, it’s been quite positive! – Alana.
Good to hear! Thank you for the update 🙂
Very cool tent. I doubt my psychotic cat would appreciate it, but that’s just how he is. Yours seem very pleased with it! 🙂
That’s a really cool tent.

Wow, we really could use a tent like this. Then we could get some outside time.
That is pawtastic! You should also check out the Kritter Kondo which was created by Lisa Illman…..I bet you would love that too! I had one, but since we live in a condo we didn’t have use for it so I gave it to my neighbor who has a chihuahua.
The tent is so cool. Great summer idea for the pets to get fresh air!
What a great tent. Fabulous balcony.Every time I see photos of your balcony I want to live there. At least for the summer.
So enjoy your new tent and the great urban balcony (with real plants) you have!
I would love to do something like this for my kitties, but the ticks are so bad around here that I’m afraid to let them put paws on the ground
We love your tent!
What a cool tent! If kitties want to get some fresh air, it’s very good for them to be protected from wandering off.
That looks pretty awesome, but I would have to convince my human to come outside first!
Oh Crepes, I dig your tent, way cool!
I love this tent which could easily be spiffed up with fabric for an awning/shade. Very important to be aware of the heat on sunny days and to place water, toys and cushions for snoozing.
