Welcome to another edition of the Rocky Report. Rocky had his checkup yesterday at the vet. He managed to gain one whole ounce during the week. What’s more important is that he didn’t lose any weight. His eye has just about healed and he’s down to only two drops a day instead of twelve.

We’re still trying to figure out what’s going on with him, but we’re doing all we can to make him feel better. MomFOD is giving him his fluids and B12 shot at home per Doctor C’s prescription.

He’s getting Miralax to make sure the constipation doesn’t return. Dr. C. wants him eating 275 calories per day to to gain weight back, so MomFOD made a list of all the foods that she could buy him that contained the most calories, yet are grain- and carageenan- free. Why no carageenan? Because it’s suspected to cause inflammation of the gut and if it’s not good enough for the FODs to eat, MomFOD won’t feed it to us, either. Here are the foods that made the list (calories listed are per 5.5 oz can):
Instinct: Lamb – 259 calories
Beef – 232 calories
Chicken – 222 calories
Evanger’s Beef It Up – 265 calories
To that, we are adding raw goat’s milk, which comes in around 21 calories per ounce, and a bit of fish oil, which adds 30 calories per pump.
The Weruva that we were using was great quality but didn’t contain enough calories for him to gain weight, and since his stomach is a little sensitive, we need to get as many calories per ounce as possible.

You guys, I know I make fun of my brother a lot. But I actually like love him bundles. The doctor mentioned IBD but she also mentioned the big C word, and honestly, that scares me. A lot. And it scares MomFOD like you wouldn’t believe. We don’t want to lose Rocky, so please everyone, put your paws together and purr that Rocky will get well. He needs all the purrs he can get. We can’t lose him. He’s too important.

Love,
Crepes.
Stay tuned for another episode of the Rocky Report next week.

I’ll have to look at those brands for Jewel because she needs to gain weight very badly, too. Unfortunately, Carmine’s restricted to a strict prescription diet so he can’t try those.
I bought the babies some Nutri-Cal. You could ask your vet about that. It’s a high calorie paste. We also tried Hill’s prescription a/d for Jewel once. It’s very high calorie food, too. It DID help her gain some weight!
The kitties send lots and lots of purrs and love to Rocky. We hope the vet can figure out what is going on. I know how scary it is. I’m going through a similar thing with Carmy.
::hugs::
We hafta say, we’re a little jealous of Rocky. He gets to eat all he wants! How cool is that???
But we purr that he is feeling better soon.
We are sending extra healing thoughts, prayers, purrs, and hugs for Rocky. Sure is a beautiful kitty.

Hang in there, Rocky. We’re sending some healing purrrrrrss to help you along.
Heck, most of us would love to have to gain weight. Milk it for all you can, kittie.
Hey, Crepes… We found one of your comments from earlier in the week in our spam folder today. Actually, a bunch of people ended up in the spam folder over the past week, but we hope it’s fixed now. Please let us know if you try to comment again and it doesn’t go through. So sorry about that!
Lots of love and purrs are being sent to you Rocky – maybe some canned pumpkin if things get a bit stopped up again. We also have a terrific probiotic that has worked wonders with some of our cats – let me know if you’d like some. Also, a couple did great with a chicken liver recipe to gain weight – was very tasty too.
Also, wanted to mention, we had a couple girls, Hurricane and Flit, who had the C word and it didn’t bother them one bit, just us FODs. Hurricane was semi-feral and couldn’t really be treated but she hung around for another several years. Flit was a tiny thing to begin with and she charmed and snuggled for a little over a couple of years.
Hugs and purrs,
Dawn/Cat Guardians

Sweet Crepes, you just continue to take extra special care of your big brother and don’t even think about that terrible C word! Purrs to you all…
Rocky!!! Finish your plate like a good kitty and gain weight for your mom. Thanks for sharing the food info, have to keep it in mind the next time I have a go-around like this. Never thought of adding raw goats milk or fish oil to the diet.
Oh Crepes, you’re such a good little sister to Rocky. Loads of purrs and prayers headed his way…
Oh Crepes. Mom tells us that one of her kitties who resides on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge had that “c” word. Here’s hoping Rocky gets better in a hurry and it’s just something in the gut.
Mija and Pilchard.
Rocky is very grateful, everyone! He got up today, walked around, asked for breakfast AND a snack, and is playing with some catnip in the sunshine. A very promising start to the day. As for his cart, yes, he stays in his cart without a carrier. He wears a harness and rides on momFOD’s shoulder, and then rests in his cart and rides in it when MomFOD’s hands are full. He’s quite the little traveler. – Crepes.
Rocky dood! Good on you! Keep up the good work and pack on the pounds!
Sending purrs to you, Rocky. I hope you’ll keep getting better everyday.
Paws crossed for mewz bro Crepes sweetie. What a stylin’ ride Rocky has- he sure is one cool mancat!
